How to maintain motivation with showmanship?
Showmanship is one of the four innovations that make TEMI a unique project for European teachers. However, during training workshops TEMI partners are often questioned by teachers about the meaning of “showmanship” in a formal learning environment. To address this issue, TEMI Israel has developed a presentation that explains how to merge the 5E model with the showmanship innovation. Teachers are not expected to be presenters or actors, but rather directors who know the basic tricks to involve and engage their students. Teachers should also be aware of the limitations of scientific models elaborated by students in a representation and not be afraid of using them to assess their class. The presentation uses the “water or wine?” mystery to go through the different stages of the lesson: should some passages not be clear, we invite teachers to get in contact with the TEMI team.
